Mohammed Al-Ghoul, the Palestinian justice minister in Gaza, has said that the Goldstone report was an international document that could be used to condemn the Israeli occupation for committing war crimes against the Palestinian people and against humanity.

He said in an interview with the PIC that the report should be utilised at the media level to expose the real image of the Israeli occupation that managed to deceive the world into believing that Israel is a democratic country while in fact its hands are smeared with Palestinian blood.

The legal aspect is the most important characteristic, the minister said, explaining that if the UN Security Council endorsed the report then there should be penal measures against Israel after holding it responsible for all the harm done to the Palestinian people.

Ghoul pointed out that if the USA used its veto power to foil any resolution against Israel, which is highly expected, then the USA would be considered an accomplice to the Israeli crimes.

However, the UN human rights council could ask the UN General Assembly to endorse the report that would be then referred to the international criminal court, he elaborated.

The ICC prosecutor also could, if convinced, open an investigation into war crimes against the Palestinian people, Ghoul underlined.
