The Age: “Israelis accused on water front” by Jason Koutsoukis, 28 October 2009

Under its illegal occupation, Israel has taken control of the water resources in the occupied Palestinian territory in direct contravention of the Fourth Geneva Convention, which specifically states an occupying power must not pillage resources. The Amnesty International report, which details Israel’s denial of fair access to water for Palestinians, joins countless other reports written on the discriminatory treatment of Palestinians designed to impoverish them and drive them off their land. And still the world does nothing. Not even the more drastic siege in Gaza now in its third year with dire effects on the population, also detailed in reports, has made the world sit up and take action against this crime against humanity. And now the Goldstone report, which confirms all the other reports written about the war crimes committed in Gaza during Israel’s military Operation Cast Lead, is destined to be ignored as well. So much ink and paper that has done nothing to protect the human rights of one people simply because they are Palestinian and the world refuses to see them as victims of Israeli aggression.
