PLAYGROUNDS FOR PALESTINE: Help build a playground November 26, 2009

I am writing to request your help with a very important project.  As you know, I am on the Board of Directors of Playgrounds for Palestine (PfP), a non-profit 501(c)3 organization based in the Philadelphia area whose mission it is to build playgrounds for Palestinian children and to educate the world about their plight.  Since its founding in 2002, PfP has built 10 playgrounds in the West Bank, Gaza, and refugee camps in Lebanon, and we have 4 more playgrounds in the works.  In the past, each of our playgrounds has cost us around $13,000 to build and ship.  However, in recent months we have been able to cut our costs in half by manufacturing our playgrounds locally, a plan that also helps to support the Palestinian economy.  Now, with each playground only costing in the $5,000-6,000 range, every little donation counts.

I know that times are hard and that you are all carefully considering how to spend your money this holiday season.  That said, I encourage you to use the 2009 holiday season as a chance to make each gift count twice – consider giving gifts to your friends and family that will also benefit the children of Palestine. Why not give a donation to PfP in the name of a friend or family member?  If you make a donation in honor of another person, we will send that person (or their family) a special PfP Supporters certificate recording the amount of the donation and thanking them for their support.  Or why not give to PfP as one of your end-of-year, tax deductible charitable contributions?*  Or just make a New Years resolution to make a small donation to PfP each month of 2010?  If you choose this option, we can deduct a set amount from your credit card or PayPal account each month so that you don’t have to remember to send in your monthly donation check.  To make a tax-deductible contribution to PfP this holiday season, visit our website at – we accept credit cards, Paypal, checks, or cash.

However you would like to contribute, just remember that every little bit helps – a $10 donation matters just as much as a bigger donation.  So join us in our effort to build playgrounds for these loving children, and be sure to check back on our website in the months to come to see pictures of the smiles on their beautiful faces!

Happy Holidays,
Jacqueline Berry
