The Australian: “US loses its mojo as broker to Mid-east” by Michael Shaik 16 December 2009

The two-state solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict is indeed in tatters along with any sense that the US ever was, or can be, an honest even-handed broker ushering in a fair and just resolution for the two peoples. This is not only because of the major back down by the US on insisting on a complete settlement freeze but the fact that the US has for years given massive economic, military and diplomatic aid to Israel facilitating its colonial and apartheid policies that can no longer be camouflaged behind the fig leaf of yet another discredited “peace process”. The ever burgeoning concrete facts on the ground and the no longer veiled apartheid policies towards the Palestinian people attest to the world’s failure to uphold and protect Palestinian human rights, which continue to be abused on a daily basis, most especially in Gaza, where the entire civilian population continues to be collectively punished to this day.
