Great job! You would never see this in the US. Our media and policitians are controlled by Jews and Pro-Israelis. A few Congressmen and women have spoken out, and been promptly defeated. So your work is very important. Australia and Europe must speak up loud and clear that Israel is a state formed by terrorism against civilians, ethnic cleansing, and a complete disregard for hundreds of UN resolutions and international law. You have a small group of people who feel they are chosen and have a right to ignore the wishes of the entire world. The entire world pays the price in suffering, polarization, and terrorism.

And ignore the pro-Israeli clowns here. They are big mouthed supporters of war crimes, and violations of the Geneva conventions. We hung Nazis and Japanese for the same things that the Israelis do regularly with our tax dollars. The people are brainwashed to speak up for the aggressors.

Israel most definately do use their sporting players, as well as other cultural events to promote and normalize international views on israel.
Israel is an apartheid racist nation. It is a rogue state, committing war crimes ,such as the starvation and seige of gaza. It supports and unleashes its judaic terrorists with indifference to international law. The extra judicial killing of a member of the democratically elected government of palestinans in Gaza exposed their internal terror cells for all to see.
Israel, its professors, universities, and its sporting diplomats should be barred from entering tournaments as israeli representatives, and israel should be barred from international football, the eurovision song contest and any other sporting/cultural events that it uses to promote its racist apartheid state of Israel.
The palestinan /Israel issue, is the issue of our time, and we should stand on the side of history as we did against the racist apartheid state of south africa

I too have worn the Aussie uniform and am bitterly opposed to all war, and especially those, like Iraq, Afghanistan and Vietnam, which are not based on self defence and have no rationale other than ensuring the economic benefits of war (for the West) – Haliburton etc

Shahar Peer is not a poster girl for Israel or the IDF – she is first and last an independent tennis player. Federer and the other three boys are all proud representatives of their countries! Furthermore they benefit from substantive sponsorship – are you sure that their respective countries and sponsors are all absolutely moral and have no blood on their hands? Perhaps it is unwise to throw stones at Peer unless you are 100% certain of the pristine morality of all the other competitors and their countries at the Open. After all, how moral is Russia or Serbia or Croatia?

You have some cheek! Since CE 100, Christians have been responsible for the massacre of at least 12 million Jews and the dispossession and torture of millions more (have you heard of the Inquisition and the Holocaust – or are these also lies put about by the ‘perfidious Jews’?). We Jews/Israelis should, but do not spit on Christians (evidence for your accusation please!). It was the Christian Church inspired pogroms and the Christian Church inspired Holocaust that made us finally realize that we must return to our Homeland – Israel. Indeed, thoughout my 12 years schooling in Australia, Christians told me, almost daily, to “go back to where you come from – Jerusalem” – whereas in fact a Gestapo Luger pointed at my head forced me to leave my native Vienna at the age of two.

There is a ton of independent evidence from UN observers,visiting Christian politicians (Tony Blair is a Catholic, is he not?), reams of independent TV and other media (Arab, Australian, UK, US, European, Christian and Muslim) coverage – not to mention the frequent and recorded boasts of Nasrallah/Hezbollah and Hamas – and well you know it.

In responding to you initially I thought that you were rational – but I was seriously mistaken (e.g. what on Earth has alleged “spitting on Christian Clergyman and symbols” got to do with the cowardly persecution by the AFP of a young innocent woman whose sole purpose in visiting Australia was to play tennis like all other 100+ visiting players). My one satisfaction is that although Shahar lost (as anticipated) last night, she played to a full house – your/the AFP boycott did not work – or at least not as planned unless the AFP is a silent sponsor of Tennis Australia – without the AFP posters and this AFP website few might have known that she was playing…

Re the rant by “David” – simply Hezbollah and Hamas propaganda – ignores the fact that Israel has the right to defend itself against daily unprovoked rocket barrage amounting to thousands of rockets – and WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO!

Perhaps you would like to put up some evidence of the “barrage of 1000′s of rockets” being launched, independent evidence that is, not Israeli propaganda. As for unprovoked, Israel ignored the cease fire brokered by Egypt which Hamas (the legally elected government)honored,and continued with the inhuman blockade of Gaza as well as continued actions against Palestinian fishermen, killing, imprisoning them, and destroying their boats.
We all know how tolerant the Israeli’s are towards Christians for one, with their spitting on Christian clergymen and desecrating Christian symbols.
Then we have the old chesnut of anti-semitism, I have friends who are Semites, and believe it or not I also have some Jewish friends.
Federer along with the other 3 are not poster boys or propagandists for any of the Governments involved in Iraq Afghanistan and weren’t born when the Vietnam was on.
One more thing I wore the Australian as a “Nasho” but protested the three wars.

Robbo – Of course all media can and do photoshop – hence the need for scepticism

In contrast, neither Iraq, Afghanistan nor Vietnam fired a single rocket or any missile against the USA, Australia or the UK – yet no one seeks to boycott Roddick, Hewett or Murray, for example, for the unprovoked murder by the USA, Australia and the UK of thousands of innocent Iraqi, Afghan and Vietnamese citizens.

And as for Federer – why no boycott of him now that Switzerland has voted to eradicate all minarets and other Muslim symbols from its soil (something that not even the most right wing Israeli would even dream of suggesting should happen in Israel)?

Is there possibly some bias here – perhaps redolent of anti-Semitism?

All this, this horrible collection of ignorant and totally groundless abuse against AFP, goes to show that sport is civil society’s warfare; anyone who threatens its icons will get a kick in the guts. Yet the icon in this case is an icon of the IDF, not the ADF. So one has to ask, what has brought this nation to the point of waving the flag of another country as well as our own, and defending it against perceived threats – the ‘terrorist black shirts’ of AFP?
In the run up to Australia Day, fast becoming an unseemly celebration of our intrinsic racism, we could have expected that attacking an Australian player at the Open would produce a hysterical response. But Shahar Peer is an Israeli, representing her nation abroad and with everything that this entails. Are the defenders of politics-free-sport aware of what this means? I think not. Do they know what the IDF did in south Lebanon in 2006, an attack on Lebanese Palestinian refugees when Shahar Peer was evidently serving her time with the army? Didn’t they hear about the mass drop of cluster bombs which was Israel’s parting gift? The targeting of Red Cross ambulances with missile strikes and of people trying to escape?
Of course Peer had no choice in joining the IDF – learning to use a gun to kill people you believe might threaten you is deemed essential in modern Israel – all of Israel’s children must do it, and do it well. Israel is not renowned for its sporting prowess; perhaps her need for play-acting is less when the real thing is available. But to pretend that Peer can be treated like any other sports star is simply to be duped. The attendance of Yuval Rotem at the Open speaks for itself – Israel’s cultural ambassadors are one of its main weapons in its propaganda war, and in its struggle to present itself as a civilised and democratic nation. The reality of course is profoundly different – it is by definition a racist nation, and by declaration an apartheid one, as well as an abuser of all international conventions on justice , war and human rights; as such ALL aspects of Israel’s relationship with the non-Jewish world are a legitimate target for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions.

Switzerland recently used a referendum to ban the construction of minarets. This is blatant discrimination against Islam.

Therefore, boycott Roger Federer!
