Ma’an News Agency -  19 January 2010

The National Assembly of Relatives of victims of Israeli attacks appealed on Tuesday to President Mahmoud Abbas to pass a law concerning their rights to compensation, which was passed by the previous Palestinian Legislative Council in 2005.

“We have appealed to President Abbas to pass this law which guarantees and secures [families’] rights, as well as providing them with a good life,” said Secretary General of the Assembly Muhamamd Sbeihat.

“We have been increasing our efforts concerning this issue recently and we sent a letter to President Abbas calling on him to approve the law issued in May 2005 by the PLC.”

Sbeihat added that it appears that the president’s office is responding positively to their request.
