GAZA FREEDOM MARCH: Find out what you can do 16Feb10 February 18, 2010
Dear Gaza Freedom March Endorser,
Despite some flaws, our “spontaneous convention” in Cairo made a positive difference. But the work to lift the siege on Gaza grows more critical by the day. Many communities have heard our stories, read our articles, viewed photos and videos of our time in Cairo and across the globe, in solidarity, all helping to remind that one year ago Israel launched its brutal attack on the population inside Gaza and that the inhumane and illegal blockade against civilians persists 3 years later in war torn Gaza. Read more coverage about Cairo and see videos on our website.
Many of our organizations are strategizing next steps to break the siege. The Cairo Declaration is now planted and offers a global network the chance to grow. Please sign on if you haven’t and disseminate the declaration widely. The larger our numbers, the more coordinated our actions, the greater our impact!
In a recent article, Philip Rizk asked, how do we take it a step further? Can we coordinate actions between Cairo, Beirut, Gaza and other cities against this wall of shame? … One year on from my abduction I have the liberty to move, act freely and live. The population of the Gaza Strip does not have that luxury. What we have on our side are numbers determined to end the siege on Gaza and call for justice in Palestine. Let us move together.

Join the lawsuit to halt the Egyptian Government’s construction of the wall of shame along the border with Gaza and the Closure of the Rafah Crossing. A number of GFM marchers have signed on as plaintiffs in the case and more Internationals are needed. Read the lawsuit here. Anyone interested in being a plaintiff in the lawsuit should contact former ambassador Ibrahim Yousri or Prof Mohammed A. Sharaf. (Ambassador Ibrahim Yousri is also involved in a petition to halt Egypt’s illegal natural gas exports to Israel.)

Support the Free Gaza Spring Flotilla. On Jan 29, the Free Gaza Movement and the Turkish Relief Foundation (IHH), announced a joint venture, sending 10 boats in the spring of 2010 to the besieged Gaza strip. Organizations from Greece, Ireland and Sweden have also promised to send boats to join the Flotilla. Click here to find out how to support or join the flotilla.
Sign the Gaza Freedom March delegation from Switzerland’s petition calling for the government of Switzerland, the high contracting party and the depository of the Geneva Conventions, to take a stand against the illegal siege of Gaza. Please sign your name here and distribute the appeal widely.
Right to Enter: Friends, contact your Embassies in Tel Aviv and complain about Israel’s crackdown on international aid workers and random barring of individuals from Israel simply because they may hold opinions critical of Israeli government policy! For US citizens who have been denied entry to Israel and deported, please fill in and fax this form
Israel, via the Interior Ministry, continues to spit in the face of friendly countries, and those countries continue to admire the falling raindrops.

Photos and videos: Please have a look and show others our Flickr group site. We are encouraging marchers to continue to upload their photos here.
Host a Marcher: Sharing stories and impressions about the march contributes to deeper understanding of what happened in Cairo. Invite marchers to speak about Gaza in your Churches/synogogues/mosques, universities, community groups, political organizations, peace groups, women’s groups, bookstores–as well as with your family, friends and coworkers. Email for assistance in locating a marchers in your area.
We support, we organize and we grow, shifting attitudes one at a time. The GFM intends to stay the course on Gaza — supporting actions and pressuring governments where we can; keeping marchers and supporters connected; recruiting more and more people to demand rule of law for Palestinians everywhere. Thanks again for joining the Gaza Freedom March. We look forward to keeping you updated as we forge ahead. Coming soon, GFM’s final report of the march.
Free, free Palestine!
