The Australian: “Hatred is not an act of charity” by Colin Rubinstein, 26 May 2010

What we are not told in Colin Rubenstein’s opinion piece “Hatred is not an act of charity” is that one side is oppressing another. And readers may remain ignorant of this fact because all language referring to Israel’s crimes against the Palestinian people have been expunged from mainstream Western media.  The ethnic cleansing of three quarters of the Palestinian population from what had been their homeland for centuries and the subsequent colonisation and apartheid policies that Israel has engaged in to continue this ethnic cleansing by stealth would go a long way in explaining why Palestinians continue to struggle against the state that seeks to control and dominate them. The two state solution has long been undermined by Israel’s illegal colonisation program that has further entrenched a system of apartheid, which denies Palestinians their most basic human rights. Apartheid and colonisation are crimes against humanity that Israel is guilty of. If the shoe was on the other foot I wonder how much tolerance Israeli Jews would show if they were dominated by a state that took all their resources, colonised their land, denied them their history and
insisted on privileging Palestinian Arabs over Israeli Jews.
