Lavinia Moore (SA) writes to the Adelaide Advertiser on conditions in Gaza 11Jun10 June 11, 2010

President Obama says that the situation in Gaza is unsustainable.
What situation is he referring to?
The situation of children not having enough nutrition to sustain healthy development?
The situation of living through winter in a tent because the family home has been bombed to rubble?
The situation of not having a permanent income from employment, business or farm?
The situation of being at risk of death when one tries to catch fish or grow melons?
The situation of being unable to leave Gaza to enter university, get medical care, or visit family?
Or is it unsustainable to be confined forever in the world’s largest prison for one entire life, for the crime of being Palestinian?
Yes that is unsustainable.
Yet despite this, Palestinians do survive, but not because the rest of the world has acted honourably, but because of their own courage.
