Glenn McConell (Vic) writes to The Age on Israel’s attack on Gaza flotilla 11Jun10 June 11, 2010

The Israeli attack of the Gaza flotilla has somehow been twisted around to that of the Israeli commandoes defending themselves.  However, as reported in The Guardian, the 9 people killed were shot a total of 30 times.  Some of those killed were shot from behind and with the weapons fired within 45 cm!  Most of the footage was confiscated by the Israeli navy but some thankfully got out.  As can be seen on the web (eg Democracy Now website) the shooting and killing started before the commandoes even landed on the boat.  Is it surprising, therefore, that when the Israeli commandoes actually landed on the boat that the people on deck tried to fight them off?!  Surely it is time to give the poor people of Gaza, and the other Palestinians within the occupied territories and within Israel itself some small degree of overdue justice, starting with an independent enquiry.  How many massacres need to take place before enough is enough.
