Jennifer Killen (NSW) writes to NSW Premier Kristina Keneally re company linked to Israel’s illegal settlements 7Aug10 August 13, 2010

In the last few days you may have read that Energy Australia is considering giving the contract for electric car recharge points to a company linked to Kristina Keneally’s husband.

This company also provides supporting infrastructure for Israel’s illegal settlements and is part of the Israeli government’s plans to improve its international image, this time by greenwashing (see links below).

I have written to my local member of Parliament about this and I hope you will find time to write as well.

Dear Ms Keneally,

I am very concerned to read that that the Nsw government, through Energy Australia which it owns, is considering Better Place Australia, the local arm of an international company, to provide recharging points and battery-swap stations for electric vehicles. It is clear that this company is involved in providing supporting infrastructure for Israel’s settlements (illegal under international law) in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.

I look forward to receiving your assurance that this plan has been abandoned and that the laudable objective of facilitating the use of electric vehicles will be achieved without supporting this company.  I also urge you to ensure that the NSW governement ensures that no contracts are let to companies with links to Israel’s military occupation of Palestine.
