Israeli defense forces killed three Palestinians on the border between the Gaza Strip and Israel on Sunday, Reuters  news agency reported quoting medical workers and witnesses. Hamas security and medical officials told Reuters that the three dead Palestinian were farmers from the town of Beit Hanoun near the border. Three other Palestinians were wounded, they added.

But according to YTnews,  only two Palestinians were killed. They were identified as a 90-year-old grandfather, Ibrahim Abu-Asad, and his 14-year-old grandchild, Hussam Abu-Asad. According to witnesses, they were killed after a shell hit their home. Three other grandchildren were reportedly wounded in the incident.

According to news reports, the Israeli attack came after the Palestinian group Hamas,  fired rockets across the border.

The violence was the first since Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met in Washington, DC last Thursday to relaunch the stalled peace talks.
