The Australian:  “Israel snubs settlement plea” by John Lyons, 28 September 2010

For a limited extension of the settlement freeze, Israeli  Prime Minister Netanyahu suggests he would give the Palestinians a letter of commitment to support a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders with land swaps.

It is clear from this he has no intention of giving up any of the land Israel has illegally colonised. No mention is made of any compensation for the destruction of thousands of  Palestinian homes and agricultural lands over the last four decades which accompanied this illegal colonisation of the occupied Palestinian territory.

And there is not even a hint that Israel will acknowledge the wrong done to the Palestinian people in the six decades of their dispossession, while systematically stealing the land resources from under their feet.

We are a long way from peace.
