Israel-Turkey talks stuck 12Dec10 December 13, 2010

Ma’an News Agency -  12 December 2010

Negotiations between Israel and Turkey to resolve the Gaza flotilla crisis stalled late last week, an Israeli newspaper reported Sunday.

Israel has refused to apologize for the killings of Turkish activists aboard the Mavi Marmara and Turkey has refused to cooperate with Israel’s demands that it set aside the incident.

An Israeli official told Haaretz that the talks are “stuck” and that “differences are still great.” It is still early to declare the talks dead and expects further discussions very soon, he noted.

A Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesman also stated Friday that the talks will resume soon.
