Ma’an News Agency -  10 January 2011

EL-ARISH, Egypt (Ma’an) — Egyptian officials at Port Said said Sunday that preparations were complete to receive a Libyan ship carrying aid for Gaza.

The Al-Marwa was scheduled to arrive Sunday with 700 tons of food and medical aid to be delivered to the besieged coastal enclave.

Port officials in El-Arish said the convoy’s arrival was delayed until the evening due to bad weather conditions.

Ma’an’s correspondent said the Egyptian Red Crescent would unload the cargo and transport it to Gaza via the Rafah and the Al-Auja crossings.

The convoy is the second to arrive from Libya in January. On Sunday, 80 tons of Libyan food aid was delivered to Gaza through the Al-Auja crossing.
