The Palestinian Information Centre -  16 February 2011

GAZA – Palestinian minister of religious affairs Taleb Abu Sha’ar said that the Israeli municipal council in occupied Jerusalem approved the construction of about 19 synagogues in Har Homa settlement on Abu Ghunaim Mount.

Abu Sha’ar in a press release on Wednesday appealed to the Arab and Muslim countries and the international community to protect Jerusalem from the Judaization policy pursued by the Israeli occupation state.

The minister warned that the building of these synagogues would change the identity of the holy city, noting that Har Homa settlement was illegally established in east Jerusalem at the end of 90s.

He also noted that Israel plans to build thousands of housing units in the coming years in this settlement.
