26 Mar, ADELAIDE: ISRAELI APARTHEID WEEK – Journeys to Palestine with Phil Monsour February 22, 2011

Israeli Apartheid Week (IAW) is an annual international series of events held in cities and campuses across the globe. 2011 is the sixth consecutive year for IAW with events taking place in March all over the world, including lectures, multimedia events, cultural performances, film screenings, demonstrations, and more. The aim of IAW is to educate people about the nature of Israel as an apartheid system and to build Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) campaigns as part of a growing global BDS movement. Last year, IAW took place in more than 40 cities across the globe.

Action for Palestine is a University of Adelaide based group and this will be the first year that the group has organised an “Israeli Apartheid Week” to coincide with the international dates. For the last two years, Action for Palestine has run “Israeli Apartheid Week” events in August to large success on campus at Adelaide University

AFOPA strongly encourages all members and friends to support Action for Palestine’s music night on Saturday 26 March, called ‘Journeys To Palestine’, which will be held at 7pm at The Box Factory, 26 Regent Street South, Adelaide.  ‘Journeys To Palestine’ will feature Brisbane singer/songwriter Phil Monsour and volunteer human rights observer Bek Christensen, who will recount their experiences in the occupied Palestinian territories in a night of songs, images and stories in support of justice and peace in Palestine and Israel.

Student $5 – Regular $10 – Solidarity – $25.  A meal (vegetarian options) and drinks are available at the show. Bookings via action.palestine@auclubs.com.au
