Medea discusses “Move Over AIPAC – Building a new US Middle Easy policy” a gathering being held next month (21-24 May) in Washington to coincide with the annual policy meeting of AIPAC itself. The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) is enormously influential on the US government’s foreign policy, especially in the Middle East. The Move Over AIPAC will expose AIPAC’s negative influence on US foreign policy amd promote an alternative approach that respects the rights of all people in the region. There will be trainings, workshops, press conferences, book signings, cultural events as well as peaceful, creative protests outside the AIPAC convention where the Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and hundreds of members of Congress will be meeting. A very interesting insight into the women-initiated Codepink movement and how it has mobilised tens of thousands of men and women all around the world to work for peace and social justice.
