13 May, SYDNEY: Stand up against Australian arms trade with Israel April 25, 2011

Where: outside Defence Department, 270 Pitt St Sydney

When:
Friday 13th May 2011 between 4.30pm – 6pm

Our government should not buy or sell military equipment to states which:

· brutally occupy or wage war against neighbouring nations
· maintain illegally-acquired and undeclared nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction
· carry out summary executions and collective punishment, terrorizing communities without military protection
· flout dozens of UN resolutions and international court rulings
· implement apartheid policies against populations under their control
· kill peaceful human rights demonstrators and bomb refugees under UN protection

A large part of Australia?s trade with Israel is made up of contracts to buy or sell military equipment, giving profits to Israeli arms manufacturers, or giving technologies to a overly bellicose state. The Rudd government signed a $300 million purchase with Israeli arms manufacturer, Elbit, for Skylark-1 unmanned aerial vehicles, and Plasan SASA, represented here by Defence Solutions Australia, is selling Australia 1300 armoured personnel carriers.

Drop all the contracts, isolate Israel!
