Occupation threatens Palestinian farm structures 24May11 May 25, 2011

The Palestine Information Centre -  24 May 2011

The Israeli occupation authorities have handed notices to six Palestinians in the southern West Bank district of al-Khalil giving them informing them that their farm structures will be demolished and their fields in the village of Beit Aula to the West of al-Khalil will be bulldozed.

The head of the municipal council of Beit Aul, Rateb al-Emleh, said that according to the notices four water wells in the Jalmon and Twas neighbourhoods near the apartheid wall, as well as other farm structures will be demolished, large swathes of land will be bulldozed and trees uprooted.

Emleh said that these Zionist measures are part of a plan to render these lands derelict in a bid to thwart Palestinian efforts to develop those lands.

Another sixteen such notices have been handed to Palestinians in the southern West Bank claiming that those lands were government properties and Palestinians have no right to develop them.
