I wish to voice my support for a Palestinian State and for the Palestinian people. I would also like to express my disgust with the Australian Government for boycotting the recent conference in Geneva. I think it was spineless in the extreme. It’s about time that the world moved past the guilt and constant reminders of the holocaust and looked at what has been happening to the Palestinians since the creation of the Israeli State. I am heartily sick of the Jewish Lobby stifling freedom of speech in this country, and very often succeeding, when they perceive that something is anti semitic, be if artwork, theatre, books/articles, or anyone who dares to show support for the Palestinian cause. How many films have been made about the holocaust and continue to be made? Constantly reminding the world what happended, but at the same time barring the worlds media from reporting the injustices and suffering the Israeli State is inflicting upon the Palestinians.
In this age of instant messaging, Twitter and the internet, I would like to suggest a virtual voice for the Palestinian cause. AFP can organise internet based petitions that reach all those who care for the cause. The example is that of Getup in Australia and Avaaz.org in the US. I am a member of both and I have seen it working.
Thanks.
