In just a few words, Archbishop Desmond Tutu’s simple message brings hope and clarity to the spin that has wrought such terrible injustices and calamity on the Palestinian people and shamelessly influenced our leaders to abandon the common human values of decency, compassion and honour to condemn them to a life of unforgiving occupation and apartheid. The honest truth cuts through all the silver-tongued words that speak of peace and understanding even as the bulldozers rip apart Palestinian homes, land and society for the pleasure of strangers from far away lands.
As long as Israel occupies, rejects and discriminates against the Palestinian people, all the negotiations, dialogue and joint initiatives being brandished about now that suck even well-meaning Palestinians into their vortex, are meaningless.
