GAZA, (PIC)– Palestinian premier in Gaza Ismail Haneyya has denounced the Israeli threats against the humanitarian convoy Freedom Flotilla 2 and asked the UN to provide protection for the fleet.
Haneyya, who was speaking after the Friday congregation in the presence of Miles of Smiles delegates, said that solidarity activists had the right to reach Gaza.
He underlined the persistence of such convoys pointed to the continuation of the Israeli blockade on the beleaguered Strip, and that it was about time to end it.
The premier lashed out at the Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu for endorsing more punishments on Palestinian prisoners, calling on all those concerned to intervene and save the Palestinian prisoners from such practices.
He also asked the Red Cross to be fair and to ask about the suffering of around 8000 Palestinian prisoners instead of focusing on the safety and wellbeing of a single Israeli captive.
For his part, Issam Yousef, the coordinator of Miles of Smiles, said that more relief convoys would be sent to the Strip in the next few months.
