Response to “Tent city is a beacon of social justice and optimism for all” by Robin Margo

Robin Margo (18/8/11) would have us believe that Israel’s tent protesters represent new grounds for hope – promoting religious pluralism and social justice for all.

Yet none of the protesters are demanding an end to the racist system they are all part of that treats Israeli Arab “citizens” as unequal through at least twenty laws and denies basic human rights to the Palestinians living under its brutal occupation while continuing to dispossess them of their land and resources.

There has not been one word of protest against the ongoing collective punishment of Gaza’s 1.5 million with the four year siege and blockade.

In short, the protesters’ apolitical demands show a distinct myopia that ignores the gross injustices and crimes against humanity systematically perpetrated by this wonderful democracy.
