True democracy in Israel will have arrived when Palestinians can demonstrate in Tel Aviv about their houses being demolished, their building permits being denied, the refusal of their families’ right of return, the illegal occupation of their lands where they live without the vote and under the daily humiliation of military checkpoints and walls built through their communities (”Tent city is a beacon of social justice and optimism for all Israelis”, August 18).
