Response to: “Direct negotiations are the true path to peace” by Julia Gillard - The Australian - 21 September 2011
Direct negotiations have failed miserably in forging a true path to peace precisely because the “peace process” has been used by Israel to unilaterally and quite illegally create the “present realities on the ground” that our Prime Minister alludes to.
Returning to more negotiations without bringing Israel to account for its illegal colonisation and serial human rights violations cannot be the “only true path to peace”. Australia’s role in remaining silent makes us complicit in an injustice that is ongoing since the state of Israel was created in Palestine.
