GAZA, (PIC)– UNRWA has started to shrink its services in the Gaza Strip in anticipation of its covert plan to relocate out of Gaza specifically to Jordan, Dr. Esam Odwan, the head of the refugees department in Hamas, said on Sunday.
He told a rally organized by the popular committee for refugees in Gaza Strip to protest the reduction in UNRWA services that the agency was claiming a budget deficit while it acquired an additional sum of money from a number of countries this year to the tune of 200 million dollars.
Odwan charged UNRWA with delaying the restructuring of destroyed homes in Rafah despite a Saudi donation of 70 million dollars allocated for that purpose.
UNRWA says it is keen on teaching human rights to its pupils while in practice it was depriving its Arab staffers of those rights, the Hamas official said.
The committee, for its part, distributed a statement during the rally urging UNRWA to take serious and practical steps to break the siege on Gaza and to upgrade the level of its services and to contribute in fighting unemployment among refugees.
