‘US bent on ending Israeli isolation’ 18Oct11 October 18, 2011

Press TV  -  17 October 2011
A top Iranian diplomat has warned of persisting Iranophobia efforts in the region by the enemy, insisting that the recent US disinformation campaign against the Islamic Republic is geared towards saving Israel from isolation.

In its latest measures against Iran, the US accused Tehran on Tuesday of involvement in a plot to assassinate Saudi Ambassador to Washington Adel Al-Jubeir with help from a suspected member of a Mexican drug cartel.

The US believes that such a scenario will harm Iran’s relations with regional countries and could eventually break Israel’s growing isolation caused in the wake of the Arab spring, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said on Sunday.

Israel’s isolation is in contrast with US strategy in the region, IRIB quoted Amir-Abdollahian as speaking in an interview with Iran’s Arabic-language news channel Al-Alam.

After September 11 attack, the US found out that it needs a crisis to cause concern among people over security situation in order to achieve its own macro political objectives, he added.

He emphasized that the US return to such “threadbare and repeated scenarios” will bring nothing to Washington but political disgrace.

Iran’s ties with Muslim countries in the region and neighbors are based on peace and friendship, said the Iranian official, adding this is a well-known strategy for neighboring states.

All regional nations know that the enemy is pursuing Iranophobia plot to obtain their own objectives and interests. This understanding can help Iran to easily thwart fake scenarios, he pointed out.

Iran has categorically denied the accusation, saying the recent US plot allegation is a “ludicrous” claim based on the joint US-Israel posture against the Islamic Republic.

On Saturday, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the US administration is responsible for escalating tension and undermining international security through its propaganda campaign against Iran.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi has also called on Riyadh to exercise caution with respect to the US plot since “the enemy always seeks to sow discord among regional countries.”
