Moammar Mashni (VIC) responds to reports on Gilad Shalit’s release in The Australian 20Oct11 October 21, 2011
I was amazed by two omissions in your reports on the release of Gilad Shalit. First, the word occupation was not mentioned. Given that Israel’s illegal military occupation is the reason there is a conflict, one wonders how such a critical fact can be excluded. Second, there are 164 Palestinian children held in Israeli prisons — 35 of whom are aged 12 to 15 — many without charge. There has been no mention of them in any of the reports and Israel has not offered to free them as part of the prisoner exchange.
This poses the question: why are Palestinians and their children dehumanised to the point of oblivion?
Thank You.
