Lavinia Moore (SA) writes to Greens Senator Bob Brown re Palestine’s UNESCO membership 4Nov11 November 7, 2011

Dear Senator Brown,

I want to say well done for standing up for the rights of Palestine to become a member of UNESCO, especially in the face of Australia’s craven stand, so obviously intended to appease the USA.

I am amazed that such petty and nasty bullying stoops so low as to tell Palestinians they don’t deserve to sit in Unesco, or that their archeological, historical and religious sites do not deserve the protection that UNESCO membership may achieve for them.

What amazes me is that “people of the book”- be that book the Torah, the Bible or the Koran- remain silent, seemingly giving approval of desecration and destruction of such sights, simply because they want to oppress all Palestinians and destroy everything that could be remotely connected to Palestinian heritage.

Even if it is significant for Christian belief for example.

I do not understand how they can persist in living with this obvious cleft inside their brain!

Once again Bob, I thank you for having the principles to speak truth to power.

Go well and stay well.
