The Australian: “Rudd seeks action on torture allegations involving Palestinian children” by John Lyons, 17 December 2011

Dear Mr Rudd,

Thank you for instructing Australian diplomats to visit the juvenile military court in Israel and to initiate a meeting with Israeli authorities to raise concerns about the IDF’s inexcusable and deliberate mistreatment of children simple because of their Palestinian ethnicity.

Because Australia has lagged behind other countries in investigating Israeli treatment of Palestinian children in detention, now is the opportunity for Australia to catch up and engage in real and effective action.

I urge you use your your powers given to you by the electorate to “do justice, and love with mercy” (Micah 6: 8) for the sake of the vulnerable.
