The Australian: “Rudd seeks action on torture allegations involving Palestinian children”
by John Lyons, 17 December 2011
I am certain not to be alone, in wishing to commend you for the reports in
the Australia Newspaper, by John Lyons. They are an all-too-rare account of
the shocking treatment meted out by Israeli military & courts, on
Palestinian child prisoners. This type of unacceptable behaviour against
another People, is intolerable enough for adults, but especially harrowing
where children are concerned. Gerard Horton at Defence of Children
International – Palestine, should be thanked for working to throw light on
the situation.
Unfortunately, for whatever reason, there is all-too-little disclosure in
the mainstream media, so this effort in your newspaper helps to expunge the
generally negative impression in recent times, of the News Ltd. press.
Israel’s apparent willingness to transgress against now internationally
accepted norms & legislation, is a sad echo of Australia’s treatment of our
own indigenous people – one would have hoped such times are over. As a
Jewish citizen, who came here as a refugee from Nazi Germany, it is
specially painful to perceive all too similar mis-treatment perpetrated by
Jews against another minority.
Thank You.
