TEL AVIV, Israel (Ma’an) — A 29-year-old Palestinian man was shot after trying to attack a soldier at Qalandiya checkpoint Sunday near Ramallah, Israeli news reports said.

The Palestinian, who was not identified, sustained light injuries to the leg, Ynet news reported. He was transferred to hospital.

According to Israeli media, the man was carrying a knife and tried to attack a soldier at the checkpoint which separates northern Jerusalem from Ramallah.

Israeli police did not immediately return calls seeking comment.
