80% of Gaza patients threatened with death due to worsening power cuts 20Feb12 February 20, 2012

Gaza, (Alresalah.ps)–Ministry of Health in Gaza warned about worsening health condition for patients in the Gaza Strip hospitals if the problem of power outages continues in the strip.

Director of Public Relations and Information in the ministry Dr. Ashraf Al-Qidra said more than 80% of the patients are threatened with as the health situation deteriorates because of the ongoing power cuts.

“404 dialysis patients are at risk of inevitable death because their treatment largely depends on electronic apparatus, in addition to 100 infants in incubators”, he added.

Moreover, he pointed out that “Gaza hospitals have totally run out of 72% of its diesel fuel stocks, explaining that their work will come to a complete standstill if there is no refueling.”
