The Sydney Morning Herald:  “Gunter Grass barred ‘for fanning flames of hatred’”, 10 April 2012

Gunter Grass joined the SS when he was 17 but  Menachem Begin and Yizhak Shamir were in their 30s when they led Irgun and Haganah terrorists in the massacre of Palestinian village Deir Yassin. Their genocidal past was not an obstacle to them becoming Israel’s 6th and 7th prime ministers.  In light of this appalling history Israel’s Interior Minister Eli Yishai should shut up and accept  Grass’s legitimate criticism (Gunter Grass barred ‘for fanning flames of hatred’, April 10).
