Hunger-striking prisoner ‘collapses in court’ 29May12 May 29, 2012

BETHLEHEM (Ma’an) — A prisoner on hunger strike for 30 days collapsed on Tuesday in an Israeli military courtroom, sources in Shatta prison said.

Ahmad Kharyoush, 23, fainted in Salem military court and was taken to a prison hospital, prison sources told Ma’an.

They added that Kifah Khatib has been on hunger strike for over 40 days and is being held in solitary confinement in Shatta prison.

Israeli Prison Service spokeswoman Sivan Wiezman told Ma’an that no prisoners were on hunger strike in Shatta jail.
