Lavinia Moore (SA) writes to The Adelaide Advertiser re attack on Palestinian farmers 29May12 May 29, 2012
I refer to the item in the Advertiser 28/5/2012 regarding the Palestinian farmer being attacked by “Israeli settlers”.
This report is deceptive in what it does not say.
Firstly, the Palestinian farmer was attacked in his land by “settlers” who have “settled” on Palestinian land illegally.
Secondly, although this article would appear to suggest that this is something noteworthy because it is not the usual state of affairs, that is very far from the truth.
For example, in the past week another Palestinian, Â a six year old child was run over by another “settler”, and six female Palestinian students were taken to hospital after being attacked by Israeli Jews while on a school excursion. In addition Israeli military wounded four non violent protesters, Â abducted thirty persons including twelve children, and wounded two civilians, one near Bethlehem and one in Gaza, the latter who was shot and seriously wounded.
Let there be no misunderstanding. This is not uncommon. Every day Israeli soldiers and others and so-called settlers attack and kill Palestinians, steal their land and their homes. Men, women and children.
It is good that the matter was reported.
But for all of those who don’t ever get a mention, we should be ashamed.
Thank You.
