Media sources reported that Israeli soldiers attacked the weekly nonviolent protest against the Annexation Wall in Al-Ma’sara village, near Bethlehem.
The protest started from the center of the village before the local protesters, accompanied by Israeli and international peace activists, headed towards the Annexation Wall, isolating the residents and preventing them from entering their own lands.
The protesters marched in support of the Palestinian political prisoners, held by Israel, and commemorating the Naksa (the six-day war on June 6, 1967, when Israel occupied the rest of Palestine in 1967; the West Bank, the Gaza Strip, and East Jerusalem).
Hasan Breijiyya, coordinator of the National Committee Against the Wall and Settlements, stated that, with their determination, steadfastness and their hunger strike, Palestinian political prisoners became the symbols of determination steadfastness and nonviolent resistance.
Al-Ma’sara holds weekly nonviolent protests against the Wall and settlements, parallel to protests held in Bil’in and Ni’lin villages near the central West Bank city of Ramallah, and several other villages in the occupied West Bank.
