“Today, Sunday 17th of June [YK], there will be a meeting for an Israeli Judical committee in order to discuss Mahmoud’s case and we expect they will decide to release Mahmoud and set a specific date for his release.”

On June 16, 2012, we have contacted Mr. Imad Al Sarsak, Mahmoud’s brother and asked him several questions about Mahmoud’s situation and his corresponding answers were as follows:

-How is Mahmoud’s health now, we heard he has been drinking small amounts of milk to save his life?
Mahmoud health is stable now, after he passed out last night due to severe lack of vitamins and loss of body weight (approximately he lost 30 Kilograms of his total body weight), and he can’t move except in a wheel chair, and he had to drink milk for two days in order to stay alive.

-How is Mahmoud’s spirit?
His spirit is high as passed to us by his lawyer Muhamad Jabareen, and he is determined to carry on with the hunger strike until he gets his freedom, even if it costs him his life.

-What are the best ways/steps to help Mahmoud and bring more awareness to his case?
The best way to help Mahmoud now is by organizisng solidarity protests in front of Israeli embassies all around the world, as well as your foreign ministry in order to bring more attention to Mahmoud’s case on the diplomatic level and hopefully these governments put more pressure on the occupation’s government to free Mahmoud
We hear about Mahmoud mainly from his private lawyer Muhamad Jabareen, and he visits Mahmoud whenever Israel allows him to. In addition there are other lawyers and human rights organizations that visit Mahmoud whenever it is allowed, but Israel keep refusing to allow Mahmoud’s family and parents to visit him ever since his illegal detention 3 years ago , which cause his father a heart attack that influenced his health a lot.

-Did the Israeli government try to contact you and the family in order to put pressure on Mahmoud to quit his hunger strike?
The Israeli government haven’t tried to contact Sarsak family at all, neither did they try to put pressure on him through them to stop his hunger, however it keeps pressuring Mahmoud and try to force him to take vitamins and nutritions, but he keeps rejecting them. The Israeli authorities keeps circulating wrong info every now and then that Mahmoud has stopped his hunger strike and he’s eating well, and that is absolutely wrong and not true.

-Tell us about the offers the Israeli government has gave Mahmoud since his detention?
Israeli intelligence has offered Mahmoud several offers since his detention in July 22, 2009, in exchange for his freedom, such as offering him to work for them as an informer, and asking him to confess on charges he didn’t do and confess on other Palestinians that they are tied to terrorist organizations and so on, but Mahmoud refused explicitly.
During his hunger strike, he was offered to be released to a foreign country (Norway, Sweden ), then he was offered to be deported to an Arab country for 3 months after which he can return to Gaza, Mahmoud asked them for this to be written and documented so as to be official, but they refused that and as a result he did not accept any of these fake offers and will carry on with his hunger strike until he gets his freedom.

-What is the official Palestinian stand on the matter, both Hamas and Fatah’s governments?
The Palestinian official stand came late and limited, and is a poor and negative move that does not stand up to the weight of Mahmoud’s case, some limited calls from Fatah officials with the Israelis officials, which the later do not respond to and do not disclose any info about Mahmoud. Regarding Hamas officials, they only participate occasionally in solidarity protests and sit ins for Mahmoud in Gaza

في السادس عشر من شهر يونيو , تواصلنا مع السيد عماد السرسك, شقيق الأسير البطل محمود السرسك, وقمنا بسؤاله مجموعة من الأسئلة حول وضع محمود, وكان رده كما يلي:

– ما هو وضع محمود الصحي والمعنوي حاليا, لقد قيل انه يشرب حليب وبعض الفيتامينات, ما صحة ذلك؟
وضع محمود الصحي الآن مستقر بعد حالة غيبوبة تعرض لها في ليلة الأمس بسبب نقص الفيتامينات و الضعف الكامل في الجسم نتيجة فقدان 30 كيلو من وزنه ولا يستطيع الحركة الا علي كرسي متحرك واضطر محمود لشرب الحليب لمدة يومين من أجل إبقائه علي قيد الحياة . معنويات محمود مرتفعة كما ينقلها المحامي محمد جبارين وهو علي إستعداد للبقاء مضرب عن الطعام حتي ينال حريته حتي لو كلفه الأمر حياته وإستشهاده .

– ما هو احسن تحرك وعمل ممكن نعملوا وبساعد قضية محمود؟
احسن شىء هو التحرك بفعاليات ووقفات احتجاجية امام السفارة الاسرائيلية ووزارات الخارجية في بلدانهم من أجل توصيل قضية محمود الي ابعد مدي ممكن والضغط علي الحكومة الصهيونية .

– كيف عم توصلكم اخبار عن محمود؟
اخبار محمود تأتي عن طريق المحامي الخاص وهو محمد جبارين ويزور محمود كلما سمحت اسرائيل بذلك وهناك محامين وجمعيات حقوق انسان تزور محمود عندما تسمح لهم اسرئايل وتنقل لهم اخباره واسرائيل ترفض زيارة احد من عائلته ووالديه منذ اعتقاله منذ 3 سنوات ونصف وهو ما جعل والده يصاب بجلطة قلبية أثرت علي صحته.

– هل الحكومة الاسرائيلية تضغط عليكم لاجبار محمود عن التوقف عن الاضراب؟
الحكومة الاسرائيلية لم تتحدث مع العائلة اطلاقا ولكنها تضغط علي محمود وتجبره علي تناول فيامينات ومحاليل ولكنه يرفض ان يأخذها وتخرج الحكومة الصهيوينة اخبار كل فترة بأن محمود أوقف اضرابه ويتناول طعام بشكل طبيعي وهو غير صحيح اطلاقا.

– ماذا عرضت سلطات الاحتلال من صفقات على محمود منذ اعتقاله قيل ثلالث سنوات؟
-أكثر من عرض قدمته المخابرات الصهيوينة لمحمود منذ اعتقاله وفي بدايه ايام اعتقاله عرضت عليه الافراج عنه مقابل ان يصبح جاسوس وعميل يتجسس علي المقاومة ورفض محمود ومن ثم قالت له ان يعترف علي نفسه وعلي شخصيات فلسطينية بانهم ارهابيين حتي يفرجوا عنه ولكنه رفض وفي فترة الاضراب عرضت عليه الافراج الي دولة اجنبية النرويج او السويد وهو رفض ومن ثم عرضت عليه الافراج الي دولة عربية لمدة 3 شهور وبعد ذلك يعود الي غزة وطلب منهم محمود ان يكتبوا وثيقة تعهد علي ان يعود الي غزة بعد ال3 شهور ولكنهم رفضوا التوقيع ويستمر الاضراب الي ان يفرجوا عنه مباشرة.

– هل هناك اي تحرك رسمي من جانبي حكومة حماس وحكومة فتح؟
التحرك الرسمي بدأ متأخر من الحكومتين ولكنه تحرك سلبي وغير ايجابي مع وجود بعض الاتصالات من حكومة فتح مع الجانب الاسرائيلي الذي رفض الرد علي اتصالاتهم ولم يعطوا معلومات عن السرسك . وبالنسبة لحكومة حماس فقط تشارك في وقفات احتجاجية مع عائلة السرسك .

خبر أخير يريد ان يقوله عماد لكم :
اليوم الأحد سيكون هناك اجتماع من لجنة قضائية اسرائيلية من أجل دراسة وضع محمود ونتوقع ان يكون هناك قرار بالإفراج عن محمود فى وقت محددز وسيتم ابلاغكم بهذا القرار غدا ان شاء الله عن طريق الاخ محمد غريب .

في النهاية تقدم السيد محمود السرسك وعائلته بالشكر الكبير الي كل انسان حر يؤمن بقضية محمود ويتحرك ويتضامن ولكم كل التحية من قلب فلسطين وان شاء الله نحتفل معكم بالافراج عنه قريبا

ACTUALISATIONS | Gaza
Le 16 Juin 2012, nous avons contacté Mr Imad Al Sarsak, le frère de Mahmoud et lui avons formulé plusieurs questions concernant la situation de Mahmoud et les réponses correspondantes furent les suivantes.

– Comment est la santé de Mahmoud actuellement, nous avons entendu dire qu´il buvait de petites quantités de lait pour sauver sa vie?
La santé de Mahmoud est actuellement stable, après avoir passé la dernière nuit à cause d´un sévère manque de vitamines et de la perte de poids ( il a perdu environ 30 kgs du poids total corporel), et il ne peut pas se déplacer saus en fauteuil roulant, et il a du boire du lait depuis deux jours pour rester vivant

– Comment est le moral de Mahmoud?
Il a le moral haut comme nous a communiqué son avocat, Muhamad Jabareen, et il est déterminé à continuer sa grève de la faim jusqu´à obtenir la liberté, même si cela lui coüte la vie

– Quelles sont les meilleures façons d´aider Mahmud et d´apporter plus de prise de conscience de son cas?
La meilleure manière d´aider Mahmoud actuellement est d´organiser des manifestations de solidarité en face des ambassades Israëliennes dans le monde entier, ainsi que devant nos ministères des Affaires Etrangères afin d´attirer plus d´attentino sur le cas de Mahmoud au niveau diplomatique et dans l´espoir que ces gouvernements mettent plus de pressions sur le gouvernement d´occupation pour libérer Mahmoud.
Nous avons des nouvelles de Mahmoud principalement à travers de son avocat privé Muhamad Jabareen , et il visite Mahmoud chaque fois que Israël le lui permet. De plus il y a d´autres hommes de loi et organisations pour les Droits de l´Homme qui visitent Mahmoud à chaque fois qu´ils y sont autorisés., cependant Israël continue à refuser de permettre à la famille de Mahmoud et à ses parent de le visiter depuis sa détention illégale il y a 3 ans, ce qui causa à son père une attaque cardiaque que a influencé beaucoup sa santé-
– Le gouvernement Israélien a-t-il essayé de vous contacter, vous ou la famille afin de mettre pression sur Mahmoud pour qu´il abandonne la grève de la faim?
Le gouvernement Israélien n´a pas du tout essayé de contacter la famille de Sarka, ni n´a essayé de le pressionner par son intermédiaire pour qu´il arrête sa grève, cependant il continue à pressionner Mahmoud et à essayer de le forcer à prendre des vitamines et des aliments, mais il continue à les rejeter. Les autorités Israéliennes continuent à faire circuler de fausses informations selon lesquelles Mahmoud aurait stopper sa grève de la faim et mangerait bien, et ceci est absolument faux, pas du tout vrai
– Racontez nous les offres faites à Mahmoud par le gouvernement Israëlien depuis sa détention?
Le service d´intelligence Israëlien a fait plusieur offres à Mahmoud depuis sa detention le 22 Juillet 2009, en échange de sa liberté, telle que lui offrir de travailler pour eux comme indicateur, ou de lui demander de confesser des accusations qu´il n´a pas commis et de confesseur celles d´autres Palestiniens , qu´ils sont liés avec des organisations terroristes etc… mais Mahmoud refusa explicitement.
Lors de sa grève de la faim , ils lui proposèrent d´être libéré dans un pays étranger ( Norvège, Suède) , ensuite on lui proposa d´être déporté à un pays arabe pendant 3 mois après quoi il pourrait revenir sur Gaza. Mahmoud leur demanda de mettre ceci par écrit et documenté pour le rendre officiel, mais ils refusèrent, raison pour laquelle il n´accepta plus aucune de ces fausses offres, et continua avec sa grève de la faim jusqu´à la libération.
– Quelle est la position officielle Palestinienne en la matière, des gouvernements de Hamas et Fatah?
La position officielle Palestinienne est venue tard et limitée, et dans un mouvement pauvre et négatif qui ne donne pas plus de poid au cas e Mahmoud, des appels limités ont été réalisés par des fonctionnaires de Fatah aux fonctionnaires Israéliens, appels qui ne répondent pas ni ne rèvèlent aucune information sur le cas de Mahmoud. Concernant les fonctionnaires de Hamas, ils ont seulement participé occasionnellement à des manifestations de solidarité et sit ins pour Mahmoud à Gaza
* M Imad avait à ajouté ce qui suit avant que la conversation ai eu lieu:
Aujourd hui, Dimanche 17 Juillet (!) Juin!!! , aura lieu une rencontre avec un comité judiciaire Israélien pour discuter le cas de Mahmud et nous espérpns qu´ils décideront de relâcher Mahmoud et qu´ils fixeront une date précise pour sa libération.
