Ruth Pollard’s report “British lawyers condemn Israeli injustice on Palestinian minors” (28/6/12) finally informs The Age readers of Israeli policies and practices towards the indigenous Palestinian population it continues to occupy, dispossess and ethnically cleanse.
Numerous reports have been written over the years alerting the world to human rights abuses against the Palestinians by the Israeli state and still Israel is allowed to act with impunity.
What is especially egregious is that these violations are against children, who no doubt will grow up with an intense awareness of the injustice that the Palestinian people have been, are, and will continue to be subjected to unless the world community finally puts a stop to it.
But this requires acknowledging the wrong done from the very beginning – something the world wilfully turns a blind eye to, including the media, that fails to properly inform its readers of the ongoing human rights violations and the context in which they compound the original injustice of dispossession.
