Polls show majority of Israelis don’t support the establishment of a Palestinian state 29Jun12 June 29, 2012

The Zionist Organization of America issued a press statement on Monday regarding the results of a survey which show that the vast majority of Israelis do not believe in the establishment of a Palestinian state, and that a Palestinian state would not bring them peace.

According to the Jerusalem Post, the results of the survey show that 73% of those polled did not believe that the establishment of a Palestinian state alongside the Israeli state would end the Arab-Israeli conflict. The newspaper noted the remarkable increase in the percentage of Israelis holding this opinion; poll results from last year showed that only 64%of Israeli did not believe that the establishment of a Palestinian state.

According to the poll, 64% of the Israelis are also in favour of the expansion of settlements in the West Bank, while only approximately 15% oppose construction of the settlements. The proportion of opponents, compared to last year’s results, has decreased by 5%.
