Including children, army kidnaps 13 Palestinians in the West Bank 16Oct12 October 16, 2012

Israeli soldiers kidnapped, on Monday at dawn, 13 Palestinians in different parts of the West Bank, including two children, 12 and 11 years old, who were taken from their homes in occupied East Jerusalem, and a 15-year-old child in Hebron.

The Israeli military claimed that some of the kidnapped residents are believed “to be planning to carry out attacks against Israeli targets”.

Soldiers invaded Beit Ummar town, north of the southern West Bank city of Hebron, and kidnapped a child identified as Sa’ady Hasan al-Allami, 15, after the breaking into his parents’ home and searching it.

The army also kidnapped Mohammad Sami, 25, Mo’taz Yousef al-Anati, 18, Mohammad Sameh Sabarna, 25, and Ra’fat Sa’dy Al-Allami, 15, and took them to an unknown destination.

Also in Beit Ummar, the army kidnapped a local farmer identified as Mohammad Abdul-Hamid as-Sleiby, 65, while working his farmland.

Furthermore, the army kidnapped Mosallam Mousa Odeh, 12, after breaking into his family’s home in al-Bustan neighborhood, in Silwan, in occupied East Jerusalem. This is the 12th time the army has kidnapped Mosallam.

The child’s father, Mousa, is a member of the Committee for Defending Silwan Neighborhood. He said that the soldiers terrified the family, especially the children, by violently breaking into their home, and by using military dogs to sniff through their property and belongings.

Also in Jerusalem, the army kidnapped an 11-year-old child, identified as Mohammad Zaytoun, and held him at a police station in the city, where he was interrogated for several hours.

The child was kidnapped after the army broke into his parents’ home and violently searched it. The army is claiming that the child hurled stones, paint bottles and Molotov cocktails at settlers’ vehicles.

Soldiers also invaded Tulkarem city, in the northern part of the West Bank, and kidnapped Ziad Sami Tamam, 26, after breaking into his home and searching it.

The army invaded the Tulkarem refugee camp and kidnapped one resident identified as Islam Mohammad Nasrallah.

Three more Palestinians were kidnapped in the West Bank districts of Ramallah, Salfit and Jenin.

In related news, Israeli bulldozers of the Jerusalem Municipality demolished a home and a stable that belong to resident Sufian Taha in Wadi ad-Dam in Beit Hanina neighborhood.

On Sunday, the army kidnapped Nidal Adas, 16, Mahdi al-Abbasi, 26, and Morad Siyam, 34, after breaking into their homes in Silwan town.

On Friday, soldiers kidnapped a 9-year-old child, identified as Amir Othman Darwish and detained him for two hours after claiming that he hurled stones at the Israeli Hadassah Hospital.

The Hospital’s surveillance team denied the claim, the Ahrar Center for Detainees’ Studies reported.

The invasions and arrests are part of daily violations and assaults carried out by Israeli soldiers, and settlers, in different parts of the West Bank, including in occupied East Jerusalem.
