QALQILIYA (Ma’an) — Israeli forces on Friday suppressed a weekly march in Kufr Qadoum against settlements.

The march was organized by Fatah on the eighth anniversary of Yasser Arafat’s death, and as part of a campaign leading up to Palestine’s UN upgrade in status this month.

Israeli soldiers attacked participants and fired stun grenades and tear gas. Clashes erupted between soldiers and youths, a Ma’an correspondent said.

Protest spokesman Murad Ishtewi said the event proved “Arafat is alive in every Palestinian.”
