Immoral Settlements
Colin Rubenstein (“Settlements are not the great obstacle to Mid-East Peace”, 20 December 2012) conveniently ignores the applicability of international law to the occupied Palestinian territories declaring the settlements legal and justified. He also contradicts every public statement from politicians in Australia, EU and the US about the impact of E1 settlements on the two state solution. Israel had made it clear that it plans to annex East Jerusalem with its 250,000 Palestinian inhabitants and its 40% contribution to the Palestinian economy. Settlements are not only illegal but also immoral in the eyes of 75% of the world population whose representatives voted for a Palestinian state on the 1967 borders only few weeks ago.
