Palestinian agricultural organisations appeal for solidarity and action on settlement trade 22Feb13 February 22, 2013
All of the major Palestinian agricultural organisations have this past weekend issued an appeal for international solidarity and for campaign action aimed at ending trade that sustains the destruction of Palestinian agriculture.
Palestinian farmers face the brunt of Israelâs land confiscations, demolitions and water theft. Farmers that still have access to land and water face systematically implemented restrictions and violence.
Israeli agricultural export companies such as Mehadrin and Hadiklaim are among the primary beneficiaries of the destruction of Palestinian agriculture, operating inside and exporting produce from illegal settlements using stolen Palestinian land and water.
The call to action, signed by the Palestinian Agricultural Relief Committees, the Union of Agricultural Work Committees, the Palestinian Farmers Union, the Palestinian BDS National Committee and 12 other Palestinian organisations, calls for action to end settlement trade and expresses the view that the most effective way to do this is to halt trade with companies known to be operating in settlements.
The signatories to this call for action have also released a briefing entitled Farming Injustice that aims to shed light on the systematic destruction of Palestinian agriculture by Israel and the complicity of Israeli agricultural companies in this destruction. Â

The documents were released as part of an international day of action coordinated by Palestinian organisations that involved large mobilisations by activists, unions and NGOs in Palestine and across cities in 40 European countries. See HERE for more information.
We would be grateful for any feedback or any suggestions about how the organisations that have published these documents can contribute to existing work on settlement trade.Â
We look forward to hearing from you and hope to discuss ending international trade that sustains settlements with you further.Â
Many thanks,Â
