NABLUS (Ma’an) — Israeli forces arrested 22 people in the West Bank overnight Tuesday, Israel’s army and locals said.

In Nablus, Bahiq Darwaza, 20, and Hakam al-Risheh, 19, were arrested by Israeli troops, witnesses told Ma’an. Omar al-Dein al-Jabari, 24, was arrested in Hebron and Amjad al-Titi was detained in el-Arrub refugee camp, family members said.

An Israeli army spokeswoman said 10 people were detained in Qalqiliya, three in Hebron, three in Nablus, two in Ramallah, two in el-Arrub and two in Jenin.

The suspects were taken for “security questioning,” she added.

Around 40 percent of Palestinian men have been detained at some point in their lives since Israel’s military occupation of the West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza Strip in 1967, rights groups say.

There are 4,812 Palestinians being held in Israeli jails, including 178 administrative detainees, 219 children and 12 women, according to Addameer.
