FirefoxScreenSnapz003A senior UN official says the policies adopted by the nuclear-armed Israeli regime have put the whole Middle East region at risk, Press TV reports.

United Nations Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in the occupied Palestinian territories Richard Falk told Press TV that the Israeli regime “is perusing policies that will be dangerous for itself as well as very harmful to the region.”

The UN official also criticized the Tel Aviv regime for the breach of international law by launching wars on Lebanon and the blockaded Gaza Strip.

“It [Israel] has used its military force whenever it has wished to do so, violating the sovereignty of other countries repeatedly,” Falk stated.

The UN official further added that the Israeli regime was the only possessor of nuclear weapons in the Middle East and treats the regional countries in a “paranoid” manner.

Israel reportedly maintains between 200 and 400 atomic warheads, but under its policy of so-called nuclear ambiguity, it has never denied nor confirmed its possession of the weapons of mass destruction.

Furthermore, the regime has never allowed any international inspection of its nuclear facilities and has refused to sign the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

Tel Aviv has also refused to join the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which limits members to civilian uses of nuclear technology.
