The campaign to promote local goods is ongoing in the Gaza Strip. Entitled “Our Production”, the project began with the month of Ramadan this year.

Food produced by local companies in the Strip is being marketed as part of this general strike. The necessity driven by the siege is the new mother of invention with there being little choice other than to produce locally.

The main way to import is through the tunnel system in Rafah, but it is unpredictable, expensive and dangerous.

“Our Production” is using a campaign with extensive marketing and advertising of food products and has recorded itself a distinctive presence since its inception. The month of Ramadan regularly marks an increased demand for food items, a niche that the local production campaign is attempting to fill.

“It focuses on promoting Palestinian production in a region suffering from problematic conditions in terms of obtaining raw materials and packaging materials”, organizers said today.

Featured foods in the project that incorporates 15 participating local companies include beverages, olive oil and tomato sauce.

The campaign director said, “The campaign is bringing obvious developments to the participating companies, particularly in terms of quality and the support their efforts are receiving. This is a vital economic boost to the Strip.”

The “Our Production” campaign is scheduled to continue for three years.
