The Age: “US hope dims for Mid-East talks” by Karen Deyoung and Howard Schneider, 5 November 2009
You would not think that Israel’s refusal to freeze settlements on occupied Palestinian land – an illegal activity that violates Palestinian human rights and an obligation under the Road Map conditions for peace negotiations – could be presented in anything other than a negative light. But the manipulation of language has done it again as The Age report “US hope dims for Mid-East talks” tells us that the “Palestinian rejection” of “Israel’s proposal to limit, but not stop, construction on Arab land was the culmination of months of stalemate”…. meaning, of course, it is the Palestinians who are at fault. Never mind that with each day more and more land is taken from the Palestinians, more are made homeless as they are turfed out on the street in East Jerusalem for Jewish settlers to take over
their homes and the illegal Jewish settlements are further entrenched with the construction of 3000 housing units and public buildings required for natural growth to ensure their permanency.
